Writing Better Fiction

Here we gather hints and tips from some of Ireland's top authors to help you improve your fiction. We will be adding to this resource regularly so do subscribe to the RSS feed or our bulletin newsletter to be kept posted on new articles.

Just as every writer has a different voice, every writer approaches developing character or plotting and planning for instance, differently - there is no right way. By collecting together the wisdom and experience of a wide range of authors we hope that you will take what you need from each one and develop methods that work for you.

There is a commonly held misconception that because we were all taught to write at school, then any of us can sit down and write a book. It isn't quite that simple - there are many techniques required, particularly in fiction writing, to make your work readable and more importantly publishable. We address these techniques here - this is an organic resource that will grow over time, so do keep popping back for updates.

If you need advice on areas not covered here, pop along to our forum to chat to your fellow writers and find out what works for them.
